Over a 12 month period works were carried out to replace the existing Georgian wired glazing system in the station concourse and all station canopies with 10,000 new TwinFix polycarbonate glazing panels.

Replacement of the existing 2 span wrought iron footbridge with a new single span aluminium footbridge in London.

Following flooding in December 2015, Story designed and installed flood alleviation measures at the McVities factory in Carlisle.

During a 5 month period, works were undertaken to renew the track slab within the Mersey Loop at Liverpool.

Commencing in Spring 2016; works were undertaken to build a new car park and develop the access area surrounding Workington Railway Station, on behalf of Cumbria County Council.

Repair works were undertaken on the Carlisle to Settle railway following a 500,000 tonne landslip in February 2016, closing the line near Armathwaite.

Story Contracting were tasked with the delivery of the track slab system which was part of the renewal of Queen Street Tunnel’s degraded 40-year-old slab track working for Morgan Sindall. The project, part of a larger scheme at Queen Street is part of the ongoing Edinburgh Glasgow Improvement Programme (EGIP).

Arcow Quarry was a £2.5 million scheme to once again connect Tarmac’s quarry near Horton-in-Ribblesdale with national rail network. Story Contracting provided the design and implementation of the track and civils works.

During an 8 week period in early 2016, works were undertaken to provide a temporary replacement to Pooley Bridge. The stone masonry arch bridge, at the foot of Lake Ullswater, was washed away during Storm Desmond in December 2015.
