The scope of the project was to implement the following works:
• Comprehensive earthworks to prepare the site were undertaken.
• Construction of site access roads.
• Implementation of security measures and lighting systems.
• Installation of precast battery container & BIC foundations.
• Construction of additional foundations around thee MV skid perimeter.
• Installation of effective substation drainage works and underground ducting routes.
The team were able to re-use timber formwork panels from the Broxburn BESS project and utilised the same supply chain.
The Cathkin BESS team hosted a Construction Aware Industry Taster Day, as part of Story’s commitment to inspiring future generations. The ten pupils involved were all interested in careers in construction and thoroughly enjoyed learning about the various roles open to them. The group took part in a live site visit with our Graduate Engineer, interactive STEM session as well as a bridge building competition where the winners were judged on design, cost and teamwork.
