The project was able to celebrate success and demonstrated best practice within the following areas:
• Story donated five defibrillators to organisations within the council jurisdiction.
• Management of unforeseen change was proactive, resulting in additional works not affecting target dates.
• The success of the underpass construction saw Story be engaged to perform further works for the client, including a sensory garden and cycle path extension.
Story collaborated with South Ayrshire Council to successfully carry out construction activities within a designated two-week road closure period, ARA advised that Story won the tender because our competitors proposed an 11 week closure of the road to complete the works. Despite challenges arising from disruptions and regulatory requirements related to Scottish Water services, Story devised a clever approach to complete the construction of the underpass in two phases, allowing for the creation of a temporary road lane. This temporary solution facilitated the reopening of the road with minimal delay while the installation of the underpass continued.
