Story commence works at Mersey Loop

Story have recently setup on site and commenced a major track slab renewals project in the heart of Liverpool City Centre. The renewals works are being carried out between January and June on behalf of Network Rail. During the project a total of 1.2km of concrete slab track will be broken out and replaced, complete with new base plates and new running rails on the Wirral Line of the Merseyrail underground loop.

Phase 1 works (James Street Platform) to date include:

  • Removal of 3rd rail
  • Cut & removal of running rail
  • Removal of existing base plates
  • Overcore existing base plates
  • Grout overcore locations
