Story Scotland team raise over £1,000 for local charities during Covid-19

Story Scotland team members have taken on a cycling challenge with a difference to raise vital funds for local charities affected by Covid-19 crisis.
Every year a group of cyclists from Story Scotland take on the gruelling 5 Ferries Challenge, cycling 76 miles through some of Scotland’s finest scenery to raise money for charity.
However, this year the team have taken on a new version of the challenge during lockdown – using their daily exercise to each ride the miles solo around their respective hometowns.
Craig Lafferty, Operations Director, said: “Rather than cancelling the challenge we decided to do a ‘ferry-less’ version individually which allowed us to adhere to social distancing rules.
“It’s been a great way for the team to keep fit and healthy, both mentally and physically, during this difficult time, whilst also raising money for local charities that are working extremely hard to support vulnerable people in our communities.
“Thank you to everyone who sponsored and supported us, it is hugely appreciated.”
The challenge was completed by Dave Gardiner, Craig Lafferty, Serge Gomez, Gary Brown, John MacArthur, Eddie Esdale and David Kellighan who collectively clocked up over 500 miles.
The team have also donated £200 worth of essential toiletries to Simon Community who have set up emergency hotels in Glasgow and Edinburgh to help hundreds of vulnerable people who have found themselves without a home during Covid-19.
