Story Scotland are proud to have had two projects, delivered on behalf of Network Rail, shortlisted in the 2021 National Railway Heritage Awards.

The works at Bishopton Aqueduct and Auch Viaduct have been recognised by the Trust for their best practice in the restoration and preservation of the rich heritage of Scotland’s Railway.

Bishopton Aqueduct: The 180-year old cast-iron structure carries a minor watercourse over the electrified railway to avoid flooding the line. The work here involved replacing the old drainage pipes, applying a waterproofing system and extensive masonry repairs to the original stonework.

Auch Viaduct: The 9-span, steel railway viaduct carries the West Highland Line over the Auch Estate near Tyndrum. The work here involved the installation of new deck and waterproofing, metalwork strengthening to all spans, condition led metalwork and concrete substructure repairs.

Winners will be announced in December. Good luck to the teams involved!
