Story Contracting welcomes first ever cohort of Scottish apprentices

This week Story Scotland has welcomed their first cohort of apprentices, with six new starters joining the team as Apprentice General Operatives.
The young apprentices have been working their way through a packed schedule of health and safety exercises, courses and introductory meetings with their mentors, as well as a visit to the SPT Ibrox site in Glasgow.
These new apprentice roles at Story Scotland are an important step for the business in encouraging the recruitment of future talent within the Scottish construction industry.
John MacArthur, Story Scotland Director, said: “We are committed to investing in future talent in Scotland and we pride ourselves on providing a high-quality rewarding experience throughout our apprentice programme.
“This ensures that our apprentices have the best possible start to their careers, building the skills and behaviours required to take our business forward and maintain our success within the industry.
“We are very much looking forward to helping our new General Operative Apprentices grow and develop their careers with Story Scotland.”
In the coming weeks the apprentices will begin their SVQ course at the National Construction College (NCC).
After working in groundworks for a year after leaving school, Donovan Fairlie, 17, decided he wanted to change his career and thought the best way to do that was to join Story as an Apprentice General Operative:
“I chose an apprenticeship with Story because it’s a great opportunity to learn new skills in an exciting industry, whilst on the job and earning money.
“I’m looking forward to getting out onto site and really getting stuck into the job.
“I can’t wait to see where my career at Story will take me.”
