Successful bridge lift at Stirling Station

Story Contracting, on behalf of Network Rail, played a key role in re-installing a historic footbridge at Stirling station over the May bank holiday weekend.
The Story Scotland team (a division of Story Contracting) oversaw the process of lifting the 28-tonne refurbished heritage structure into place using a 750-tonne crane.
The footbridge will become part of a fully accessible structure with the installation of a new lift, providing safe access over the railway for years to come.
Alan Rundell, Contracts Manager, said: “We were very pleased with how the bridge lift went, completing the installation safely and on time. With thanks to the team for their hard work over the weekend.”
Earlier this year Story Contracting won a Network Rail framework contract to deliver up to £135m of renewal and enhancement projects in Scotland over the next five years.
Glasgow-based Story Scotland will help Network Rail complete a wide range of projects on Scotland’s railway – including replacing and refurbishing structures across the route and delivering improvements at stations.
