Bridge reopens to traffic at Plymouth Road

Rail News

Story’s team at Plymouth Road Bridge in Blackpool recently hit a major milestone in the year-long programme, as the road was reopened to vehicle traffic on Friday 7th April. This marks a huge achievement for everyone involved, but particularly the effort and dedication shown by the site team ensuring the programme date was met, with the works completed to high safety and quality standards.

Following the success of this project, Blackpool Council have now engaged with Story & Network Rail to deliver a further two schemes, which is a fantastic accolade for every person involved in the project. We have also received some fantastic feedback from both Network Rail and local residents:

“Just a line to say how impressed we have been with the guys and the way the work has gone with the bridge replacement. We live just a short distance away and other than the bridge closure we have not been disturbed even when work has gone on through the night. Grandchildren have enjoyed watching the work, and the site has always looked clean and tidy. So well done to all concerned.”
Pete & Lynn Crouchley, local residents

“Can I just say a massive well done to you and your site team. This scheme has been delivered to a very high professional standard and you and your team should be very proud. Plymouth Road has slightly slipped under the radar, but it should not have. It’s an excellent achievement by all concerned.”
Pete Shrader, Network Rail
